Brunch at NOBU

After hearing so much about Nobu I decided to give it a go and see what it was all about. Having my family visiting seemed to be a great opportunity to delight myself with some Japanese food and try to impress my guests.

Upon arrival we were greeted by the hostess and escorted to our table, the restaurant has a beautiful design and a rather large open kitchen from where the chefs greet us by saying out loud "irasshaimase" which in Japanese means "Please come in".

Our waiter approaches the table to welcome us and explain about the brunch menu and also warns us that it will be a lot of food so we better be hungry. We started our meal with some appetizers that included Truffle miso soup, Edamame, Spicy chicken tacos and a sushi & sashimi platter that were a great start of our Nobu experience.

As we finished enjoying our appetizers its time for the real deal as we receive our starters of Beef tenderloin sashimi, Lobster quinoa ceviche salad, Spinach salad with dry miso and Rock shrimp with a creamy spicy sauce. The real highlight was the rock shrimps that were so delicious in that creamy spicy sauce we had to order it again even though we were already so full. I also really loved the spinach salad, it was really fresh and the dry miso adds so much flavor to it and makes you go back for more and more.

At this point we were ready for desserts but the mains were still yet to come and with such great things on the way we just couldn't say no. For our mains we had the Black cod yuzu miso, Shrimp tempura with watermelon and ponzu, Lobster and truffle quinoa risotto, Bagel and Lox, Steak & Eggs terriyaki and ended on a sweet note with Blueberry and yuzu pancakes.

I have heard a lot about Nobu's Black cod and it really lived up for it, it was perfectly cooked and flaky just like it is supposed to be and the marinade of yuzu miso was just perfect.

Being a huge fan of quinoa and having really enjoyed the Lobster quinoa ceviche I have to say that a quinoa risotto works really well and this one was cooked to perfection but if you are not that keen on truffle it can be a bit over powering on this dish. The Bagel and Lox was basically some smoked salmon with fried rice and cream cheese, it was a nice dish but a taste of it was enough for me since there were so many other delicious dishes on the table.

I am not a big sweet person, will always go for savory if I have to chose but the Blueberry pancakes were so good I couldn't stop eating them, the batter mix was great and they were perfectly cooked, the meringue also added some nice texture to them.

With no space left for more food our waiter tells us that we can help ourselves to dessert as they put up a big selection of sweets in the sushi counter. They looked really good but I really couldn't fit anything else in my tummy!

Overall I had a great experience with brunch at Nobu, will definitely go back but next time will go for dinner to experience a different atmosphere.
